About me - K.Avett (born Kande Avett Harden) is the third of four children born to a minister and education professional. From the age of 4, she sang with her family-based group, The Kirby Harden Singers. Honing her vocal skills by performing at various church programs, she grew up to the incomparable sounds of The Clark Sisters, Kim Burrell, and The Hawkins Singers. Being the quintessential preacher's kid, she had very little exposure to secular music until her teenage years and remembers countless instances of “sneaking and listening” to Sade, Lenny Kravitz, Prince, Bon Jovi, and Chaka Khan, her cited musical inspirations. After years of singing at weddings, karaoke bars, talent shows, and other events, she seriously tackled a project that would accurately reflect her eclectic musical tastes. Collaborating with her brother, Kirby, a talented musician in his own right, and Erick J. Morgan of GTO Productions, she completed her debut solo CD K.Avett: Revelations in 2012, to be released in the near future (date to be announced...) In the meantime, she lends her unique and soulful talent as lead female vocalist to the incomparable Dallas-based Band, TOP. She describes her album as a “fancy fruit salad of rocky vibes, funky beats, juke-joint flavor, and old soul. This project is a reflection of my life experiences and the self-discoveries I’ve made while on this journey.”
